Album Notes

Who is Mystic Prophet? Well primarily it is I: Ted Carr, but also on this album Elanor, one of my daughters, has been part of Mystic Prophet. I am not a trained musician, but maybe I should have been as I have a great passion for music and prayer. Funny that over the years I have come to believe what the Celtic Christians taught ages ago, that everything we do is both an offering and concurrently a prayer to/with Christ, whether that act be changing a diaper, doing the dishes, (which I don’t do very often according to my wife), working on a proposal for a client or grading papers for students. The trick is to know that what we are doing is just that: an offering and a prayer.

At least two thing happen when you comprehend this: one, your actions start being something that you can be more proud of; and two, you start finding joy in the most mudane things that you do. Sometimes it is almost outrageous the fire of contentment that comes out of that understanding. As you practice this way of seeing and being - and it takes practice - something else starts to happen: sometimes you start to see with your heart instead of your eyes; only then the little miracles within your days start becoming something of an expectation of the mystic mystery of a shared day with Christ.
