Album Notes

Dave Nachmanoff is an award-winning songwriter based in Northern, California. With a Ph.D. in Philosophy and virtuoso guitar skills, Dave's not just another male singer/songwriter. He tours as lead guitarist for Al Stewart when he's not doing his own concerts and teaching songwriting workshops. In recent years Dave has been doing a lot of collaborative projects, such as a family CD (Another Big Day), a CD with his brothers featuring the songs of his good friend Pete Hamilton (Threads of Time), and an all-instrumental tribute to Al Stewart (Wordless Rhymes). However, with "Time Before the Fall" he's gotten back to performing his own songs, mostly by himself, playing all the guitar, piano and bass parts, but bringing in some great players and singers to help with backing vocals and percussion. The overall acoustic approach to the CD highlights the songs themselves, rather than the production - however, the collaboration with producer/engineer Ben Decter, resulted in some beautifully recorded tracks! There are some themes of maturity, wistfulness, loss of innocence and a few "jeremiads" as well (probably not inappropriate given the time in which the songs were written). The emotional palette of this CD is probably the widest that Nachmanoff has explored so far. Recorded in early September of 2006, the title has a double meaning.

This is the best CD I've heard in years. It's worth the purchase price just for "Say goodbye to the Elephants", or "Judas Kiss". I can't get enough of it. This is Dave at his best!

Dave's musical style is very much to my liking. He is a great guitarist, lyricist and performer. This album is the best he's done in my opinion and demonstrates the true breadth of his musical virtuosity. Oh, and by the way, he's a very nice guy as well!
