Album Notes

Nagwa is an intimate group of 3 highly established musicians from Israel. Their original music ia a lyrical and captivating creation.
All three are originally acclaimed clasical musicians. They hae performed as soloists with different orchestras, and won prestige prizes at numerous competitions.
Each has developed his own unique style and approach through years of personal research and studies. Together, they integrate Ethno-Jazz sensitivity and sound with the precision and lucidity of their clasical background.
In 2004 they have traveled to India together, to deepen their study of Indian classical music and Indian singing. They spent 6 months in the holy city of Varanasi.
Upon their return, they recorded the first CD, carring the group's name Nagwa. A few of Israel's leading musicians were invited to take part as guests in the recordings.

REVIEWS

author: Tamara Turner, CD Baby
This is the sort of album that instantly entrances and takes up residence in the senses right away. Threading together jazz, world music and classical compositional influences, Nagwa creates a beautiful composite of colors, emotions and moods often referred to as 'ethno jazz'. Underlying the creativity and insight is an intimate feeling for atmosphere. There is an exquisite and passionate intimacy with emotion and the rise and fall of the human heart in rhythm with the rise and fall of the breath. Blending together classical Indian stylistic vocabulary with a highly accessible texture and warmth, Nagwa's self-titled album has giant appeal and will ease and relax listeners from all stylistic persuasions.
