Album Notes

Borrowing from the Americana/Roots tradition but firmly grounded with a pleasing pop sensibility, Jen & Scott Smith's intimate and concise songwriting style, honey-smoked vocals, signature guitar hooks and passionate performances have won them a career supporting base of loyal fans among listeners and the music and film
industry alike.

They are spending 2003 touring as a duo and with their 6 piece band, incorporating guitars, dobro, Irish bouzouki,
drums, percussion B3 organ, piano, and bass guitar in support of their 5th cd release, "Five by Five".

Jen & Scott's songwriting credits include cuts on Evangeline's 'French Quarter Moon' (MCA), Troy Turners 'Blues on My Back' (Telarc) and film and tv spots on Brooklyn South, Jack & Jill, The Young & The Restless, That's Life, Second to Die, The Girl Next Door, About Sarah and The Smokers. Awards include the Washington Area Musicians Association Best Female Vocalist in the Rock/Pop, Roots Rock and Contemporary Folk categories.

In their own words, "Touching the hearts of an audience is a priceless experience for us. We feel incredibly lucky to have a chance to spend our lives doing what we can to make that happen on each record and at every show."

Thursday, October 21st is a live, acoustic album recorded in an old barn on the Maryland/Pennsylvania line.
