Album Notes

Borrowing from the Americana/Roots tradition but firmly grounded with a pleasing pop sensibility, Jen & Scott Smith's intimate and concise songwriting style, honey-smoked vocals, signature guitar hooks and passionate performances have won them a career supporting base of loyal fans among listeners and the music and film
industry alike. They are spending 2003 touring as a duo and with their 6 piece band, incorporating guitars, dobro, Irish bouzouki, drums, percussion B3 organ, piano, and bass guitar in support of their 5th cd release, "Five by Five".

Jen & Scott's songwriting credits include cuts on Evangeline's 'French Quarter Moon' (MCA), Troy Turners 'Blues on My Back' (Telarc) and film and tv spots on Brooklyn South, Jack & Jill, The Young & The Restless, That's Life, Second to Die, The Girl Next Door, About Sarah and The Smokers. Awards include the Washington Area Musicians Association Best Female Vocalist in the Rock/Pop, Roots Rock and Contemporary Folk categories.

In their own words, "Touching the hearts of an audience is a priceless experience for us. We feel incredibly lucky to have a chance to spend our lives doing what we can to make that happen on each record and at every show."

I can't believe they are not filling the airwaves with these songs.

Heard Naked Blue (just Jen and Scott) for the first time at a free lunch time concert in Columbia last Friday. Thank you, Columbia! I bought Five by Five and have been playing it ever since. Every one of the 11 songs is a winner. Great lyrics, wonderful delivery and catchy guitar. When do you find that with top selling groups. They are so much better than most of the stuff played on the radio. They deserve the big time.

When you're looking for the genuine diamonds among all the broken glass, the real, close to the earth sound will sparkle. This is the kind of album we used to call perfect in the days of late'60's FM

We need more music like this!

This record is as genuine as the people who made it. Scott and Jen Smith are as classy as they come, and their pure talent is off the charts. Without a doubt this band is one of the best kept secrets in music today. And I was lucky enough to find such a treasure!

Another 5 Stars For Naked Blue!
author: Amy Nickol
Another amazing album! I originally bought it for Fear Of Flight, but have fallen in love with Welcome Home, Pride, and Christmas. Welcome Home and Pride really remind me of myself and the battle I have fought in the last few years to find myself. I especially like the instrumental work in Pride.
