An energetic and exciting funky rock band, NAKED SOUL fuses retro elements with modern sounds into a kind of tribal rock/funk sound.
Friends from the Sydney music scene, the band emerged in the spring of 2001 out of a desire to write great songs with strong lyrics and infectious grooves. From diverse musical backgrounds, each band member adds an indelible stamp to the music, blending it into an original hypnotic style.
Essentially a live band with an explosive and captivating front-man, NAKED SOUL is a very tight unit both on and off stage. Band members have paid their dues with some of Australia's biggest stars such as Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Diesal (Mark Lizzotte), Richard Clapton, Christine Anu and Mark Williams.
Offstage the band loves to jam, overdose on coffee and make sure each makes it home safely in altered states of the human condition.
gather round dear peeps - You will dig this album if you dig jimi, stevie ray, ac/dc, the stones, the chilli's, stone temple pilots, bon jovi maybe, the gunner's, living colour, purple, old led zep and ...... if you deeply crave a sublime dose of steamy blues and slide guitar you will indeed vibe on this piece of earthy twisted vinyl my friends.

"... energetic and addictive I found myself craving more..."

"Great vocals. You can tell this is a well seasoned band. Rock with a touch of blues and funky all in one package. The female back up vocals are awsome too. That girl can sing! Good production. Good crossover band. They should do well in most of the markets. "

"Lyrically I love this band. Their subject matter runs the full spectrum of the human condition. It's as if a man's naked soul is exposed as he plunges through the heights and depths of a barbed- wire eternity. "

"Rarely does a band combine so many elements into such a unified sound.Throw all the best musical influences of the last thirty years into a blender, add a splash of blues and a dash of soul, strain it and serve, and you have Naked Soul."

"Their brand of funk/rock has a timeless retro quality to it. Catchy, straight ahead and to the point!"

"Essentially a bluesy, funk based rock and roll band, their music has a crisp vitality to it. As I observe people listening to this band, it's as if something comes over them and they find themselves giving in to their pulsating feet and gyrating hip bones."

Smoky Backwater Blues Meets the Ghost of Jimi Hendrix

Found this band through six degrees of separation; saw the guitarist play with someone else. Interest piqued, I found more. And glad I did. This cd is a perfect hybrid of all that is good about music - sultry guitar licks, lyrics that burn in your brain and won't let you go, and every body moving beat making you wish the songs were longer, the lights were dimmer, and the room was only the two of you.
Give me more...that's what I say everytime I listen. It's raw enough to grind you down, and real enough to bring you right back up. I only wish I had found it sooner.
