Allie and Nick Lapointe met and married at a rural Bible camp in Iowa. From there, they began fusing their musical backgrounds into what is now their own folk/rock style. With Allie as lead vocalist and songwriter for the duo, Nick carries the weight instrumentally playing acoustic, electric, and bass guitar on the album. "In the Shelter" includes a series of songs exploring suffering, prayer, surrender, and grace for struggling families. Allie's songwriting is described as honest and stirring.

The Lapointes have two little boys, and reside in St. Louis, MO. They are a part of a church plant called Refuge, and are also members of St. Louis Songwriters' Group.
