Her story is true. Her voice is pure.
Her beat is felt. Her heart will move.
She may cause you to dance, search your soul or just BE.
Inspired lyrics, original grooves, melody, rhythm, harmony, space, voice, computer, keys, violin, noise, telephone calls, late night studio sessions, breath, yoga, spirit - these are some of the tools and ingredients that went into preparing this album Nothing To Lose.
The title track was written while her mother was in the hospital and completed shortly after she passed. Prompted by her aunt in Japan to complete the CD, rather than be taken with sadness Nana immersed herself in the project. She found that it gave her new strength to sing and create music again.
This CD is dedicated to her mother who spent years living with breast cancer. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Wellspring - a community resource for cancer patients, their families and loved ones.
Born and raised in the heart of downtown Toronto, Nana could not resist the pull of music. A couple years after convincing her mother that she needed violin lessons, she was playing with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and was accepted into the Royal Conservatory of Music young artist programme. She went on to study violin performance at the University of Toronto. She wrote her first song after an exam and discovered her need to write original music. Following her connection with songwriting, she found her way to Boston where she graduated from Berklee College of Music earning a full scholarship and honours. Since then she has been picked up by Thinkmusic - a commercial music production house where she is a full time composer and producer.
Her recently televised debut concert in Japan was to a full house of warm supportive fans. In addition to her own songs, she covered some traditional Japanese folk songs with Japanese Koto players. The show was a successful fundraiser for Wellspring.

Great songs, great voice

Her voice is amazing no matter what kind of production. Check out her CD A Story. Totally acoustic. Vibe is relaxed. Just gorgeous.

I was hooked instantly

Great song writing, killer drum programming, and a voice soaked in emotion and honesty. The tracks range from drum and bass excursions to intimate heart-felt ballads, all delivered with sincerity and groove. An amazing disc from an amazing talent.

Great voice, great words but the music is over produced.
author: Nick Delfino
I first heard NaNa on the sound track (Breathe You) for a short film "Sight Lines" at the LA Internation Film Festival in Los Angeles. I loved it! I searched her on Google and came to this site with the intention of purchasing her CD. I listened to her CD online. NaNa your voice and words are beautiful but the music is over produced. You don't need that electronic sound and with your talent it takes away from the product.
