Album Notes

"The Web of Life" was created for The Zoo of Northwest Florida as a tribute to the 1,400 beloved creatures who live there. The zoo, however, has suffered greatly at the hands of hurricanes Ivan (which forced closure of the zoo for 5 1/2 months) and Dennis (a Category 4 storm which hit only nine months after Ivan) and is now in need of help. This CD is featured in the gift shop of the zoo with all proceeds going to help feed and care for the animals. Nancy's photos taken at the zoo can be viewed on her website, and a link to the zoo can be found there as well.

Writing songs about biodiversity combines Nancy's love for nature with her love for music. "The Web of Life" is Nancy's fourth CD and is full of catchy melodies and syncopated rhythms. It is meant for nature lovers, conservationists, environmentalists, hikers, bikers, and anyone who loves Planet Earth! Although it is not written as "kid's music," this collection of songs and instrumentals appeals to kids and adults alike.

Nancy began taking piano lessons at the age of seven and began playing the flute at ten. She has studied classical music, theory, harmony, songwriting, and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in 1994. She taught piano for many years, and has been a songwriter for the past six years.

Born in San Jose, California, Nancy was raised near Memphis, Tennessee, and spent ten years in the Mississippi Delta before moving to sunny Florida, where she currently resides with her husband and two daughters. They live in a house that an orange Tabby cat shares with them. In addition to songwriting, Nancy enjoys photography (you can see some on her website) and Mediterranean cooking.

Nancy's voice is pure and so easy to listen to. The instrumentals are very relaxing. The lyrics on conservation are meaningful. This is a great collection for the iPod or the home stereo!
