With clever, unpretentious lyrics and a sound that crosses from folk to country, singer-songwriter Naomi Ashley puts together a selection of optimistic sad songs that contain the heartbreak and humor of day to day. Partially funded by a grant from the Community Arts Assistance Program through the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Illinois Arts Council, “Another Year Or So” explores the intricacies of loneliness in uncomplicated language and instrumentation.
Musicians on the album include: Dan Fuchs, Dobro & Guitar; Al Erich of the Weird Sisters & Sons of the Never Wrong, Bass & Cello; Ben Benedict of the Henhouse Prowlers, Mandolin & Guitar; Ron Lazzeretti, Vocals; Tim Menard of the Fallen Angels, Vocals & Harmonica; Colby Maddox, Fiddle and Poetry Slam Founder, Marc Smith, Spoken Word.
Naomi's EP “Love and Other Crap” was released in 2001 followed by her full-length release (with her band Naomi Ashley and County Fair) “Small Town Thing” in 2002. Originally from Northwest Iowa, Naomi has been living in Chicago since 1996.
