Knocking at the Doorway to My Soul
author: Tom Clapp
The whole album is great, but her retelling of the Celia story is incredible. The tale of 'Celia, a Slave' (inspired by a book of that name) tells of Celia's tragic and short life. Narissa's interpretation of this story is a 'must listen' for it reflects the horrible life of this young slave girl in Callaway County Missouri in the 1850's. To anyone who can't understand the attrocities of slavery in this country, listen to this song and you might get just a small glimpse of the injustice of the time. . . three cheers and 5 stars.

Wistful...Sensual...Funky

Some people think that all chyks with guitars souund the same. Not so with Narissa Bond. Her voice is deep, sweet, and earthy, but she also has a light folkiness to her sound, complete with full band that maintains a soft, acoustic sound. "Waitress" is wistful and a little sad with longing, while "Send Her To Me" is funky and makes you want to move to the rhythm. Narissa is a treat to listen to, and perfect for folkheads and bluesters alike.
