Album Notes

NARVEL~Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, Home of hard-core blues, history & soulfood. His love for singing began as a little boy in church as song-leader. As an adolescent he was introduced to raw/uncut "funk/soul" by his uncle, Winston Stewart (formely of The Bar-Kays), As a teenager his love for Blues began from attending blues events to watch his Aunt, Denise LaSalle perform, along with his other influences Bobby Womack, Bobby Rush, B.B. King, Clarence Carter, only to name a few.

"While in high school, Narvel started performing and singing background for a local rap group that established itself as one of the pioneers for Delta Hip Hop and had Regional success that provided the group with the opportunity to perform shows with many established acts and also some statewide radio play. Narvel was quickly recognized for his old soulful sound eventhough he was a young cat. With that sound Narvel became known as "The Ghetto Folk Hummingbird". Though the group had limited success, making it in rap out of Mississippi, with the lack of support from radio and djs, was a hard task in itself. Narvel, even from the beginning always expressed an interest in singing the blues, and always considered himself a blues singer at heart, so when the opportunity presented itself, Narvel jumped in with with both feet and started his campaign to bring back the Delta blues.

The first single, "Gotta Find Me a Woman" became an instant radio success and a favorite in the Delta area surrounding highways 82 and 49. The new CD, "Youngest in the Game" is scheduled to be released around May 2008. Be on the lookout for Narvel, bringing you the New School Blues, with a little for the old and a little for the new."
