J.D. Nash is a singer/songwriter whose musical journey began nearly 30 years ago. His original voice and lyrical style blend together in a unique montage of music that defies categorization.
Some songs are very 60's and 70's folk based, others lend themselves to a strong blues or country influence, some are strongly contemporary Native in music and lyrical style, while, at least one, has been described as Merle Haggard trapped in an Alice Cooper nightmare.
So There I Was...has been over a year in the making with some of the most talented composers and performers in the Midwest. Guitars, drums and bass combine with horns, strings, harmonica, Dobro and vocal harmonies to complete a rural symphony.
From "Evolution", the spoken word track that sets the mood for this project, to the haunting "Spellbound", that leaves the listener wanting more, So There I Was...is a glimpse into the life of one artist and his many facets.
