This Cd is the 8th production by Natalie Flowers, formerly known as Natalie Withers. (You can see why that verb didn't work for me if you have a sense of humor. It worked great for Bill Withers, though.)
The Cd heads off in a new direction for Natalie Flowers; it is more positive, still hitting on some heavy issues, but it has some relaxing elements that will take you to new places in your inner landscape. For example, "Watch the Water" was written during a four month period where all I had was time to watch water and light on lakes and rivers in Kansas and Colorado. That was my job. No one wanted to hire me to do anything else. If you watch water long enough, the light on it AND YOU seem to disappear, hence the last line of the song.
There are more contributions by other writers on this CD, mostly because friends would send me a snippet of poetry or an observation and it would be so beautiful that I felt compelled to include it in a song.
These songs all work well for film because the lyrics are very visual.
The song "Katie" is the story of a 19 year old young woman who worked cleaning houses with my friend Adrienne Jones, who originally wrote the song. It's about a smart girl who was dealt an unfortunate deck of cards at the beginning of her life as an adult. It is also a tribute to all of the artists who have to work in menial jobs for other people learning tolerance, sometimes until they "Make it BIG", sometimes until they learn to say "NO" and employ themselves.
The song "Tongue Twister" was an e-mail sent to me by a friend when I was traveling. It is very beautiful, and gives me hope that even an e-mail can be poetic.
There are some nice jazz elements on songs 1,2,6,and 8, and an expanded rock version of Anais Mitchell's song "Cosmic American", for which she stated that I made her feel immortal. I honor her, an amazing and sensitive talent.
Two Austin engineers helped on this Cd and I am grateful to them both: Merel Bregante for his hawk-eye ability to produce sound, and Kevin Butler, who is new to the scene and has a strong desire to keep the life in a song and not squeeze the love out of it during final mastering.
Kevin Pease designed the artwork. This guy is a genius and I would not look so good without his hard work and devotion to design.
This Cd was made with a lot of love. My printer even said that after he heard it and he hears tons of music every week.
So I hope that you feel the love, I hope the sound we make transforms the way you breathe, and inspires you to be more present in every aspect of your life.
Look for my new single "Vision Bird" in Mid-July, which will be streaming on the internet for sale.
Consider using my music on your next independent film.
Thank you for supporting independent music.

This album is a real treat! There is a nice range in the songs - some jazzy, others folky, others with a good splash of humor, and all with lyrics that make you want to listen closely and remember, and a lovely voice that warms you from the inside. The melodies and instruments encompass the lyrics with style and grace. This album puts a warm feeling in my soul and a smile on my face. Thanks Natalie!
