Album Notes

The process of working on this project has been an incredible journey. Not only has it been recorded during a milestone year of my life—my senior year of studying the music business at Nashville’s prestigious Belmont University—but it has included some of my favorite songs, favorite studio musicians, and my inspirations and friends: Sonya and Ben Isaacs. Growing up with the more traditional country sounds, I have grown to be passionate and focus my career around those sounds of the steel guitar and the fiddle. I feel that this project represents me and the music that I love. Songs like “For Old Time’s Sake” and “Candy Kisses” feature those good ‘ol country sounds that are dear to my heart. When searching for original material, one of my favorite people and an incredible engineer, Steve Chandler, recommended I include an old classic country cover. Shortly after, I attended a concert at the Grand Ole Opry and heard Lorrie Morgan singing her daddy’s “Candy Kisses,” an Opry audience favorite from the ‘40s. At that moment, I knew that was the one I was looking for. Just a few days later, my decision was confirmed when working at the Grand Ole Opry, and I stumbled upon a brief story about George Morgan and his self-written lyrics to the song. At that point, I was ready to take it to the studio! I hope you enjoy my version of “Candy Kisses.”
