Album Notes

"In his first cd, Nate shows purity in his lyrics and technical skill in his guitar playing. I'm impressed by both his dedication to music and his craft as a songwriter" - Peppino D'Agostino

". . .I have always been impressed with [Nate's] fingerstyle technique and his attention to tone, detail, and musicality. After hearing his CD, 'Stories between the Strings,' I am also impressed with his songwriting. He tells compelling stories with warmth and humor. The instrumentals are well crafted and varied, with hints of Renaissance, Blues, and Balkan. All in all, a great debut CD from a fine guitarist and songwriter" - Jeff Massanari

Nate's debut cd, Stories Between the Strings, consists of original songs and instrumentals that reflect and represent much of Nate's personality and style. Nate combines elements of Americana, Folk, Jazz and Classical music into his compositions for guitar. On top of and through this musical backbone, Nate adds lyrics and a singing style that have been compared to diverse artists such as Nick Drake and Randy Newman.

I like Cooper's warm, melodic story-telling... I like, especially, that he has kept the sound intimate. When ever I listen to this album I always feel like he is close by … Both the lyrics and the acoustics invite me into his inner circle, and I like that very much.

delightful, intelligent, melodic addition to my collection of favorites

Cooper's Stories Between the Strings is a delightful, intelligent, and melodic addition to my collection of favorites. His lyrics are appealing in their depth-the universal themes of hope, yearning, sadness and loss. The poetry is often whimsical and is filled with descriptive metaphors. While I hear strains of the toe-tapping blues of the pre-popular Elvis, styles of Dylan and others, Cooper's music is not at all deriviative but interesting with its key changes, mellow (melodies that stick) and quite refreshing in contrast to the often harsh sounds of many of today's newcomers. I have the highest regard for this talented voice in our world of music.
