A 1-man, 6-month endeavor to home-track & orchestrate a pile of roadkill story-songs. Played in folk-blues-country forms, with terrific guests, & an overture and drunken reprise, the album asks about what lasts, temptation, regret, dignity, love & The Man

Album Notes

This record was stitched together not unlike Frankenstein’s monster during the winter, spring, and into summer 2010, tracked almost entirely with an AKG 200 mic in the dining room. Fortunately, I ended up with a badly torn meniscus and couldn’t walk a few months, so really dove into this project. I hope you have as good a time listening as I did creating it. Thank you very sincerely for your support.

Special thanks to my musical workhorses (in order of appearance) Miss Claire Byrne, the lovely Kate Marshall, super-soul farmer Greg Mol, the mysterious Dave Baird, and prowlin’ Joe “Bone” Kollar. Thanks to “the gang” on the Reprise (Driftwood, Merkley, Aaron, Kate, Dan Aloi, Peter, etc…). This album would sound radically different (worse) if not for the mixing, mastering, patience, ride cymbal work, and “sound” musical advice of Mr. Pete Wetherbee. I am very grateful to the Wetherbee family, too, for so many weeks of ham sandwiches and late nights. Thanks to Johnny Zachman for cheering whole-heartedly and to Bruce Hyde for production guidance. Huge thanks belong to Dennis Ryan for all artwork/layout and Rob Natoli for his annual piano-burning party & photographs. Now smile that smile for me…

-Nate
