Nathan Bigman : A Day without a Funeral

Folk, with jazz and classical influences, some instrumental, some vocal. One pop-like song snuck in there somehow. Somewhat depressing, but with a sense of humor.

Thought provoking ... emotive ... sometimes depressing ... sometimes inspiring
author: Veronica Cottam-McConnachie
I'm not sure if I could say I enjoyed this CD ... that doesn't mean it's bad ... but one that is thought provoking ... emotive ... sometimes depressing ... sometimes inspiring ... certainly worth listening to ... definately would recommend it!

Soulful Music
author: Ari Jaffe
Piano playing reminiscent of Windham Hill combined with soulful lyrics create an emotionally powerful CD. Clearly Nathan is crafting music from the heart based upon his personal experience as a man, husband, father and Israeli. He has succeeded in integrating these life lessons in a melodic CD that carries strong meaning and hope.

A myriad mix of styles and emotions with which we can all identify
author: Moshe Chertoff
I was touched in many ways by these songs. One song moved me to recognize the simple joys in a simply good day; while another choked me to tears after the first sentence of lyric. Therefore, although I can't say I enjoyed myself; I am thankful to be able to listen (over & over) to such beautiful awareness expressed in music and words. Due to the variety of moods, emotions & styles encountered while listenting, I couldn't escape comparisons with other artists (and their genre) to define the moves from one song to the other. I moved from Keith Jarrett to W. G. Snuffy Walden, Biff Rose and Raffi. I relate to the best traits in each of these artists in comparing to "A Day without a Funeral." Until 9/11/2001 in the Northestern U.S., I doubt if many outside of Israel could get what is expressed herein. Now, I think that these emotions have become unfortunately universal. This is a great effort that deeply touches in its simplicity. I hope to hear more. Soon.
