It runs in the family - a fine CD!
author: Steve Ramm - "Anything Phonographic"
If the last name looks familiar here, it’s because Nathan’s dad, John, was one of the founding members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (and continues to make some fine music on his own these days). Nathan (and his brother Jonathan) are out with their own separate careers. This album – packed with 16 tuneful tracks – features Nathan on guitar and lead vocals and he is at least a co-writer on more than half the songs. (He is also the album’s producer.)
There are a lot of reasons to recommend this album, the first of which is Track 3, “Upside Down & Backwards”, which has a great rhythm hook that will stay with you after you turn off your CD player. I also love the two instrumental tracks – especially “The Apple”, with Paul Cartwright’s mandolin recalling the instrumental breaks on the old NGDB albums. (I have to admit I’m a big NGDB fan.). Nathan’s guitar breaks are sure fine here as well. “Etude #1”, composed by Cartwright, is another fine instrumental. “Everything In Me”, not written by Nathan, but arranged by him, is deeper emotionally and shows the range of this young quartet of California musicians. Albums like this were shared among “folkie” friends in the 1970s and Nathan’s production makes this another album you’ll want to tell others about. You probably won’t hear it on the radio these days (except for targeted satellite radio niches). So consider this a a “friend’s referral” and check it out!

What a Genius this guy is!!!!
author: Andy Gates
This is a beautifully crafted project. The trio plays wonderfully, was lucky enough to see the launch at Zoey's cafe in Ventura Ca and I must say, Nathan has a voice gifted by God from his substantial gene pool. Chuck, Paul and Mike are amazing players and really mesh well as a group. This is a CD that will grow on you and settle in to your player, highly recommended and highly thought of. I thought he had peaked with Grand design...but NOOOOOO
He is just getting started...

Amazing Talent!

Wow! I think I'm in love with Nathan McEuen...just kidding! It's his music and the music of all the guys on this album. It is so REFRESHING to hear music that comes from TRULY talented and REAL people.
While I am impressed with this entire album, I am in awe over Etude #1, Festival, Friend or Foe, and Good Time. I have listened to this album atleast 20 times since Saturday :)
Over the past weekend, my boyfriend and I went to Evergreen Lodge in Yosemite (awesome) to hear Nathan and the guys play (minus Paul sadly - he ROCKS!). It was the best birthday gift I could have receieved to be able to have a FRONT row seat to hear Mr. McEuen and the guys play their songs. Thanks for making my 28th birthday magical!! I will be back to hear more when you return to Evergreen.

NATHAN McEUEN IS A GENIUS!
author: Barbara Tiemeier
I thought there was no way Nathan could repeat the beauty and talent that he and the guys put into GRAND DESIGN... but I was wrong! FESTIVAL is so awesome. My husband loves Etude #1. I love KINGDOM BY THE SEA. I literally gave me chills it is just so beautiful. What lovely music, and it flows so effortlessly! I think we are going to have to have CD #3 because we are wearing out #1 and #2 already! Such beautiful music from someone so young, which means, many more years to come of beautiful songs! Nathan McEuen is a GENIUS! Please, never stop making music. The entire CD is as fantastic as Grand Design - which by the way - when we went to Zoey's - the entire audience was singing along on those songs. The music is addictive! Audience of all ages! We love you Nathan! Only gave it 5 stars because they didn't allow 12 stars!
