Album Notes

"...It was recorded in a dark dungeon somewhere out of the public eye. This is angry. This is dark and disturbing. This is not your normal mainstream fare. Nope, it is none of that, this is completely different than most everything you’ve heard..."
-Guestlist Magazine

"Enter Nathan's acoustic gothic freak show, where the blues are dark, a little grungy, and a little psychedelic. It's a great show!"
-Lazlo's Den

It is difficult to describe 19-year old Nathan Carpenter's music. To us, it's a blues-scorched psychedelic trip in an empty graveyard. It is as if he buried blues in a shallow grave and dug up its decayed remains. Ultimately, what we see and hear is the festering zombie of blues. His songs explore morbidity, mutilation, and eerie metaphors while his music provides a strange soundtrack of resonator licks, ambient sounds, and inexplicable noise. We call it "Black Magick Blues".

"No Friend. Sin. The Ground", his debut album, will further explore the boundless experimentalism of Nathan Carpenter's unique brand of roots music. Recorded in analog and hosting a wide array of musical cameos, "No Friend. Sin. The Ground." is out now on Ever Reviled Records.
