Album Notes

The Near Misses are an all-female quartet featuring some of North Carolina’s finest vocal & songwriting talent. The group performs an eclectic blend of originals, drawing upon American roots, rock, pop, contemporary folk, country, and jazz influences. Each member is a gifted songwriter and musician in her own right - Shana Blake (bass), Reeve Coobs (acoustic guitar, djembe), Eva Gael (acoustic guitar), and Etta Lea (electric guitar, mandolin) - but when these four young women come together with their songs and harmonies, something truly magical happens. The Near Misses have been the recipient of the “Best New Band” Award in the Arts & Entertainment category of the Creative Loafing Readers’ Choice Awards, and in 2006, Creative Loafing named the group the “Best Band” (Readers’ Choice) in its “Best of Charlotte: International Edition.” In 2007, the band won "Best Vocal Harmony" in the Best of Charlotte Awards. The Near Misses have recently completed their first full-length studio recording, Marigold, and will continue touring along the East Coast to promote the new CD.
