A songwriter, singer, and filmmaker, Ned Evett is also one of the world's foremost fretless guitarists, creating music that both celebrates and transcends the novelty of his instrument.
It's been over fifteen years since Evett gave his first fretless performance. His continuing history includes over 700 concerts performed in the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, France, Italy, and Australia on eighteen solo tours.
Ned Evett has drawn a catalogue of critical acclaim from such major national publications as USA Today, who recently extolled, "Ned Evett is the perfectly sane, and vastly entertaining master of the fretless glass-necked guitar."
Evett first made waves in 2000 with the groundbreaking release, An Introduction to Fretless Guitar. That album, along with two other successful albums, Circus Liquor, and iStole, led to the band's widespread success in Europe, while also kick-starting the beginning of an intensely loyal fan following in the U.S.
To see Ned Evett live is to see the propulsive engine that drives mile high tunes and a working band playing as hard as they can.

An End 2 Despair!
author: Kirtland Peterson
Sometimes--perhaps usually--when you look over today's "street" music scene, do you ever despair?
Back in the day there were musicians who could--gasp!--really play well. Songwriters knew their craft and demonstrated musical craftsmanship. And singers? Why they could actually sing, better than my howling dog.
On days of deep despair I take comfort in jazz and "classical" music. There, at least, music is alive and thrives.
And then...
And then maybe you're up late on night mousing around. I know I was. Dunno how it all came together, but I think some site I would up let me know that if I liked the music of Joe Satriani then I'd like fretless guitarist Ned Evett.
Ned Evett?
Never heard of the guy. But it was late and I went exploring and... Wow. NED EVETT!
Right here at CDBaby I found I could get 2 minute samples from everything on MIDDLE OF THE MIDDLE. I kept hitting PLAY ALL again and again until I couldn't take it any more. I ordered MIDDLE OF THE MIDDLE and camped out by our mail bucket until it arrived.
What makes Ned an answer to despair? The guy can play. The guy can write. The guy understands guitar tone and really crafts his sound. And the guy can sing! He's got that contemporary edge to his voice, but he sings in tune (a biggie for me), adds lush harmonies at times, tells a story.
What's more, great lyrics. Who can resist songs with lines like...
... "I was schooled by all the moments alone / When the fevers took hold"
... "Sin silent to my nose / Blind to heaven's pheromones"
... "Smell of paradise in bloom / Picture painted with perfume"
... "There's nothing new / For planet earth"
... "Make my mind into a program and my body a machine / Soul inside a circuit / Make my soul a subroutine"
... "Dwell upon this holy war / Must we kill to please the lord?"
Nice eh?
I liked ISTOLE (2004). I love MIDDLE OF THE MIDDLE (2007).
As for Ned Evett's GREATEST HITS--it's gotta come some day, this guy is just to talented--I wanna get my votes in early. Please include:
... Faded Away
... Through It
... Living Machine
... Get Back To England
Yeah, 4 songs, I know... but this is a REALLY GOOD CD... CLASSIC Ned Evett... see?
