Nashville is a songwriter's town where the craft of songwriting is honored like nowhere else.
The competition is fierce, but a few people manage to stand out. Randy Neff stands out.
At the best writers' venues in Music City, Randy's songwriting power has earned him the admiration of the most demanding peer group on the planet. On top of that, he has something original to say.
With his high, melodic voice, his dark-eyed good looks, and his unique way of phrasing a lyric, Neff reels the audience in with a rare combination of heart-searing honesty and ear-pleasing musicality.
A typical Randy Neff song climbs inside the skin of the ordinary, imperfect human being, and explores the hope and regret that live there.
He can be inspiring, as in "Sunday;" desolate as in "30 Pieces of Silver;" or he can be both as in "Wildflowers" or "The Well." By homing in on his own imperfections, Randy summons us to a place of redemption.
"All brave listeners will be forced to take a microscopic view of the scrapes and bruises obtained by a man wrestling with his own convictions." - Blink Magazine
All too frequently and artist whom we have loved on stage is somehow leveled by the recording process. Not this time. With a hand-picked group of musical friends, Neff took the reins of his own production; the result is both lean and lovely. He makes canny use of Waldo Latowski's peerless percussion and the brilliant fretless work of bassist Dave Pomeroy. Chris Arellano cuts to the heart of each song with his risk-embracing, southwestern flavored lead guitar work, while Tim Lorsch adds final touches with plaintive violin and mandolin ... all supported by a firm foundation formed of Randy's own intricate acoustic guitar fingerings.
Discovering the guitar at eighteen, Randy developed his talents quickly. His inspirations include jazz great Pat Metheny and folk mainstay James Taylor, among others. He moved to Nashville in 1993 and promptly immersed himself in the singer-songwriter community, appearing regularly at the famed Bluebird Cafe and other fine venues throughout the region. With guitar in hand, Randy Neff is winning converts wherever he goes.
"...a fully formed and unique talent, with a large stock of fine songs" - Alert Magazine

Lyrics that reveal the essence of the struggle between flesh and faith.
author: Kurt Jones
Jacob himself could have penned the poetic lyrics of this masterful album. A melodic backdrop infused with real-life, real-time wrestling with God. Gotta love it!
From a variety of vantage points, the songs explore the depths of our human condition. Soulful and sorrowful. Faithful and hopeful. A reflection of a great God's love for his children. It's refreshing to unearth such sincerity amid the corporate-pop pablum that has been heaped up around seeking believers. Get a copy and go down to the river for a wrestling match of you own.
