Young Neighborhood Gospel Singers bring to the listener a variety of styles because of the different lead singers, their backgrounds and personalities. The songs {lyrics and music} are written by them or especially for them.

The group’s combined talent brings forth an energetic sound with progressive guitar, keyboards and percussion rhythms that brings the listener to a misty and satisfying state.

Young Neighborhood Gospel Singers delivers the Christian message with a soulful effect. It is like taking a trip to the Caribbean {the Latino Influence} through Cajun country to blend into New Orleans‘ Gumbo for the perfect treat.

Contemporary Gospel-Soul Artists. They are young but not young in the gospel music experience by singing soulful heartfelt praises to the Lord and spreading hope and joy to help bring the listener to a higher ground. The YNGS have come up with a true winner with their title song “Jesus, He Lives”, also “Prayers & Faith” and "Stay With Me". Oh heck, just listen to the whole album. It is great.


The Young Neighborhood Gospel Singers, (YNGS), of New Orleans, Louisiana were established in 1980 to spread the Word of God in song. Since that time they have inspired concert audiences in churches, schools, hospitals, nursing homes & supper clubs.

Hurricanes Katrina & Rita have made them redefine neighborhood with a very broad outreach of them & their families spread across our nation. The tragedies have reinforced their faith in God & love for others. The YNGS will continue the tradition spreading warm & uplifting feelings at weddings, birthday parties, festivals, banquets & other occasions throughout the world.

Shannon Bishop-Turner is an original YNGS member. She plays keyboard, guitar & percussions. She sings lead & background. Shannon has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems. Temporary relocated to: Dallas, Texas & Belzoni, Mississippi.

Tiffany Goirl has been in the YNGS for seven years. She is a lead singer & also sings tenor in the background. She plays tambourines. Tiffany is a 2005 High School Graduate. Temporary relocated to: Baton Rouge, Louisiana & San Marcos, Texas.

Telair Gilson has been a member of the YNGS for six years. She sings lead & background. Telair is a High School Senior. Temporary relocated to: Houston, Texas & Jackson, Mississippi.

Trenelle Johnson is a six-year member of the YNGS. She sings lead & background. Trenelle is a High School Graduate of 2005. Temporary relocated to: Shreveport, Louisiana & Houston, Texas.

Tevin "TJ" Ussin has been a YNGS member for three years. He plays drums & congas. He also leads & sings in the background. TJ is a High School Freshman. Temporary relocated to: Norfolk, Virginia.

Alden Lombard has been with the YNGS for a year. He is a lead & background singer. He also plays congas. Alden is a High School Senior. Temporary relocated to: Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Brian Lee is on loan to YNGS from the Spiritual Wonders Gospel Singers. He plays drums, congas, lead, rhythm and bass guitars. Brian is in the 8th grade. Temporary relocated to: Belzoni, Mississippi.
