Album Notes

Neil Angilley was born in Redruth, Cornwall. He grew up in a musical environment, and was awarded the ‘Best Musician of Cornwall’ prize (check out the video archive!) prior to accepting a place at the Royal College of Music in Kensington, London, studying piano, trumpet and composition. Since leaving college, Neil has worked extensively in the music business recording and performing with, amongst others, Ben \"E\" King, Gypsy Kings, Lisa Stansfield, Down to the Bone (Grammy Nominated) with whom he has performed extensively in the USA, Snowboy and the Latin Section, Negrocan, Vertente – a writing partnership which has released several Brazilian 12 inch singles and album tracks, James Galway, Steve Martland and Just East of Jazz. Neil also has his own Latin Jazz trio, which has appeared at many venues, including The 606 club, and he will soon be releasing a live album which was recorded there. During the last 8 years, Neil has worked with Vanessa-Mae as keyboard player, classical accompanist and Musical Director, visiting over 20 countries. Composition work has included his own trio album, film scores, and tracks for David Benoit, Rachael Calladine, Just East of Jazz, Snowboy, Vertente and Negrocan. He has just finished a tour of the U.K. playing synthesizers with Jeff Wayne\'s original “The War of the Worlds\" tour to sold out venues including the N.E.C. Birmingham, The Royal Albert Hall and M.E.N.A. Manchester performing to 15,500 people. He also appears on the Live DVD recording at Wembley Arena (NO1 in the U.K. Music Video Charts during January 2007!!) Neil makes regular appearances on the London Jazz scene at Ronnie Scotts and the 606 Club where he is a member of the house band and performs with his piano trio.
Neil Angilley is known for his work with Down to the Bone who were nominated for a \'Grammy\'. He is also Musical Director for Vanessa-Mae and has played on many albums with \'Snowboy and the Latin Section\' & \'Negrocan\' (nominees for the Ibiza Prize). In 2005 Neil joined with Davide Giovannini to form \'Vertente\': a blend of Brazilian and electronica originals. To date they have released two 12\" singles - \'Chuva\' & \'Tanto Tempo\' available on \'Far Out Records\'. He has also appeared as a guest soloist on various albums including \'An Ordinary Day in an Unusual Place\' - US3, \'Fuzzy Logic\' - David Benoit, and \'Crush\' - Richard Elliot. In 2006 Neil toured with Jeff Wayne\'s \'The War Of The Worlds\', Dame Shirley Bassey and also appeared at Ronnie Scotts in London Neil Angilley brings you his debut album - \'Havana Club\' due to be released mid 2007.
