Neil Harpe is based in Annapolis, Maryland. He\'s been playing fingerstyle country blues and ragtime guitar since the 1960s.
Harpe produced an album of country blues on the Adelphi Records label back in 1971. Today, he divides his time between performing acoustic blues, collecting and selling vintage guitars (primarily Stellas from the 1920 & \'30s), and his \"day job\" as a painter/printmaker.
Neil was first introduced to country blues in 1962, at the tender age of 16, by several charter members of the Blues Mafia...Max Ochs, Tom \"Fang\" Hoskins and Mike Stewart AKA \"Backwards Sam Firk\". It was Firk\'s playing that served as a model for Neil\'s approach to the music. Other influences include Charley Patton, John Hurt, Willie McTell, Memphis Minnie and Blind Blake...to mention but a few.

I've known Neil since I was a child. He is one of the most gifted people I have ever come in contact with. His music is sensational, and I also have one of his paintings which we commissioned hanging in our living room. I can't say enough good things about his talent. Great CD!

This CD is just a must ! If you don't have it, so get it.
The only problem is, I like to bike and listen, so perhaps I'm not a good cyclist, but a good listener, so listen to this or get killed ? My decision is easy; I listen !!!
