Nekropsi’s new “old” album "1998" is out this June, through Peyote Müzik.
One of Turkey’s most appreciated and recognized avantgarde rock bands Nekropsi’s third record “1998” involves previously unreleased tracks from their earlier past, the year 1998, as the title refers. It’s a stunning, conductive and an open hearted record which alters the progressive rotation of their debut record “Mi Kubbesi” in a ‘Nekropsian’ tricky way. The record includes previosly unreleased material as well as a few brave versions of a few Nekropsi classics.
Formed in early 90’s, Nekropsi has become one of the most important bands for the Turkish rock listener, because of the open minded coherance, originality and innovative qualities of “Mi Kubbesi”. That record is still counted as a corner stone in Turkish rock music scene with its complicated and detailed instrumental backbone and alternative philosophical stance.
Released 10 years after “Mi Kubbesi”, second Nekropsi album, “Sayı 2: 10 Yılda Bir Çıkar”, was a recording that refined the guitar based instrumental structure of “Mi Kubbesi” with geometrical calculations and a consciously distant and witty attitude. With its upside down lyrics, repetetive and hard as steel rhtyms and guitar riffs, the album not only tightened the Nekropsi myth, but also embraced new audiences with its up-to-date mood and ‘humane’ nature.
And now, at last, the third Nekropsi record, “1998” is waiting to coming to daylight this June, on Peyote Müzik. “1998” includes songs that the band recorded at their own studio “Atlantis” in the year 1998. It’s a tricky record that perfectly balances the rythmic backbone of the band with riff based melodies. All of the songs, other than AVL, were composed during a short but intense musical camp in which all of the 3 original members participated with the addition of French bass guitarist Patrick (the great) Chartol. The album’s recording and mixing credits also belong to the members, although it was recently remastered for this CD. The cover, also, was kept in its original handmade design, which also represents the band’s unique and headstrong character.
