Album Notes

Dreaming of Home is Peter Neri's second solo acoustic guitar instrumental CD. With a concentration on melody and composition as well as technique, this CD soars and inspires. You will find yourself humming these songs long after you have heard them because of their well-crafted content.

Using a variety of guitar tunings, Peter continues to break new ground on acoustic guitar. Compared in reviews to Adrian Legg, Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges, Peter carves out his own unique style that began with his first CD, Night Visions (also available at CDBaby).

This CD works well both at high volume while cruising in your car or cleaning the house, or at low volume as a non-intruding texture of "joyful noise" that is tons more interesting than traditional "background music".

REVIEWS

Great work from the Acoustic master - toned down from Night Visions
author: Andy Rosenbloom
After a few times through the cd I have to give to Neri - this guy has some serious talent. He doesn't just play the guitar, he manipulates it. I love the detailed liner notes that give deep insight into the songs and Neri once again shows his mastery of Album-Flow. Like Night Visions, the album is great for a relaxing hour of music, but it lacks some of the upbeat funky qualities that I love about the first cd.

This mellow collection of a baker’s dozen of Neri’s own compositions demonstrate
author: Bob Powers
Mighty, mighty nice. That’s my comment after my first hearing of Peter Neri’s second solo guitar album, Dreaming of Home (New Guitar Music). Neri plays the acoustic guitar and he does so with confidence and a commendable reticence to show off his chops. This mellow collection of a baker’s dozen of Neri’s own compositions demonstrates that he’s a man who has the talent to dazzle, but the good taste to merely play in a manner that should win listeners over a wide range of the population. Neri, who lives in Vermont, dedicates the album to the joys and pains of raising children from birth to their individual independence. The titles reflect a musician with a sense of humor as well as ten gifted fingers. Songs include Julia and Geena Go to the Circus, The Rise and Fall of ThePolka.com and Pizza Delivery. Neri promises all proceeds from the album will be donated to relief organizations, charities and other causes.” Bob Powers, G21.net The World’s Magazine

Largely working from open and altered tunings, Neri creates musical impressions
author: Minor 7th
"Land of the Awakening" opens the album beautifully, capturing the experience of birth into consciousness. Subsequent tracks depict various stages of development such as a first kiss ("Day After the First Kiss"), driving ("Pizza Delivery"), heartbreak ("Blue Night"). Neri is perhaps at his best on slower, moving emotional tunes like "Dreaming of Home", "The Long Goodbye" and "Leaving the Nest". Neri is an excellent guitarist and this well recorded CD shows his talents to full advantage."
