From time to time I find music which is unusual, unique and original. Not a copy of anything, a pathfinder and pioneer. Music that realizes new ideas, instruments or styles. I am talking about groups like Yulara, Praful or 3rd Force. The Neurons are the musicians Paul Adams and Dave Hoffman. Dave is a freelance musician in Illinois and since 1991 has been the trumpet and Flugelhorn soloist with The Ray Charles Orchestra. Paul Adams became interested in building ethnic and exotic musical instruments as a student of Ethnomusicology under Dr. Joel Maring at Southern Illinois University. With this knowledge he is not only be able to build fantastic instruments but also to create new music.

This record grooves like no other. Never heard of 'em, ..... "Dance" reminds me of one of those gems that taught me to listen to EVERYTHING.
This is expert production of worldy jazzy grooves, rhythms, melodies, and beats. It's an instrumental record where Malay whispering and Taoist poets fit in perfectly. A magical sultry and often fantastically euphoric journey through every imagined corner of the globe.
These are the soundz mother earth dances to.

"one item that recently dropped into my mailbox has completely blown my mind"

I receive all manner of CD’s for review but one item that recently dropped into my mailbox has completely blown my mind. It’s the CD titled Dance by ex Ray Charles tour band trumpeter David Hoffman (along with) Paul Adams.
Dance is an album that almost defies description comprising as it does afro influenced percussion, jungle beats and off the wall vocal snippets but, buried within it, are several standout dance tracks. Not surprising then it’s the more melodic tunes that come to the fore in this eleven track selection that is packed with rhythm. ‘Luminosity’ is tremendous with real Hardcastlesque qualities while the flamenco flavored ‘Spanish Horizon’ gets the job done too. The flute on ‘Shuffle and Suspense’ is a surprising but pleasing choice and ‘Diamonds and Pearls’ is a tight tune woven together with unobtrusive vocals and a great beat. Finally ‘Island Girl’, with delicious Spanish language female vocals, is further confirmation of the eclectic nature of the recording.
