Neville Dickie is considered one of the top stride pianist in the world. A resident of England, Neville is a fixture at jazz and rag festivals around the world. This cd features some of the all time hit "blues" tunes as determined by existing copies of old time sheet music. Some are foxtrot or pop blues and some were actually blues. It has long been the fashion to "Stride" pop tunes and here Neville often starts out by playing something simliar to the original sheet music and then turning it into a stride piece. The notes contain interesting historical information, including info about Billie Brown who died at 18 years old before her big hit "Lonesome Mama Blues" was published.
