Album Notes

kate newcomer teamed up with producer john abbey for her first full-length release.

when lou carlozo of the chicago tribune heard the first track, "horse in your heart" he offered that kate sounds like 'what would happen if joni mitchell and patti smith were battling for the same soul'

kate's sometimes vulnerable, occasionally confrontational vocals and rhythm guitar are backed by abbey (bassist for david poe, ray davies, john cale, daniel lanois, more) drummer howie kantoff (poster children, blue man group) and avant chicago pianist jim baker. the album also features blues guitarist eric brown, chicago dancer sarah bowen donning tap shoes and flautistry by indie film muse traci dinwiddie.

This CD is the greatest
author: Kate Newcomer fan
This CD is Kate Newcomer's best work so far. Some of her tunes were a little melancholy, but they were just what I needed to hear to make me think about life. I have been a big fan of Kate's forever, ever since she was in 10FM, and she is without doubt one of the gem's of America's music world. She will go a long way, and this album is just another rung in the ladder of success.

No, I can't pin it down. The music on this CD is: fresh, original, moving, stimulating, captivating, thought-provoking. It is varied enough that it stays exciting even after repeated playings. I'm looking forward to the next CD.
