Album Notes

kate newcomer's third release features her longtime collaborators carlie barbour, john fonvielle, and loren gulak.*

newcomer wrote over a dozen songs in 2005 upon her return to north carolina. fonvielle and newcomer decided to co-produce a selection of these songs that reach from the grand canyon to 16th century russia and back again.

after recording the project in john's house and kate's garage, it was mixed by matthew mclean williams in durham, nc and mastered by dave kutch (sarah mclachlan, my morning jacket) in new york.

says newcomer "if you've eaten at the home plate in galway, ireland and want to head back, you will probably enjoy A THEATRE NEAR YOU. or, if you believed, for any period of time, that ukraine might have won the 2006 World Cup, go ahead and give it a listen. every window's rolled down on this one- this record has chapped lips"

*kate: vocals and rhythm guitar, as well as keys on 'cedar ridge' and 'this letter will sit.'
