The New Folksters are a group of folk singers who combine
wonderful harmony with hot instrumentals. Their
performances are fun and energetic and include lush
ballads, hot bluegrass, sultry blues and rollicking
ragtime tunes. Members have been part of the folk singing
community since the 60’s. Members are:
Hal Weiner on guitar, mandolin and vocals, a previous
member of the Barbary Coast Singers in the 1960’s
Larry Gallagher on guitar and vocals, previously one of the
New Christy Minstrels.
John Temples on banjo and guitar, a three time Utah state
banjo champion.
Judy Adams, our featured vocalist, has appeared in many
stage performances and was a member of the renown Flotones
singing group.
Lynette Kristine has played with symphony orchestras and
Broadway musicals and is the hottest bass player west of
the Willamette.
A review from The Siuslaw News:
"From Earl Scruggs to Pete Seeger, The New Folksters blow
the warm winds of Americana roots music right into your
heart with the band's first CD. John Temples' bright, crisp
banjo picking is breathtaking on Foggy Mountain Breakdown,
Any Old Winds, and Grandfather's Clock. Judy Adams'
clear, pure vocalize captures traditional songs like Single
Girl, Rising Sun and Shenandoah, as well as a charming new
song, Never Too Early. Guitarist and vocalist, Larry
Gallagher, formerly a New Christy Minstrel, transfixes
listeners with that old chestnut, Wayfaring Stranger.
Hal Weiner, longtime folk guru, provides lively comedy with
his vocal rendition of The MTA and Kansas City Kitty, and
Lynette Kristine anchors the group on the big bass fiddle.
Enjoy The New Folksters Where The Winds Blow."
