Album Notes

Congratulations!! You have just discovered New Mexico's premier Americana band THE NEXT CHAPTER. Over the years, audiences everywhere have grown to savor the combination of fiery Celtic reels, hot bluegrass instrumentals and traditional American fiddle tunes coming from the flying fingers of the Page family. Weaving a combination of the old time favorites with their cutting edge originals - mile a minute numbers that leave you gasping for air to soulful ballads that will bring a tear to your eye - anyone who attends a Next Chapter concert leaves knowing they have truly experienced something different.

Award winning vocals are punctuated by lightning speed leads on hammered dulcimer, mandolin and bouzouki; and the driving rhythms of bass and guitar pull it all together for each breath-taking set. The Next Chapter's explosive and high-energy music of today lays the foundation for the acoustic music of tomorrow.

"All music is soul music; it's just a matter of whose soul is being expressed. On the other hand, the very best music skips the middleman and connects directly to an elusive something that stirs in us all. The tapping toe, the lifted mood, the energy boost: Even the most resistant are altered, if only for a moment.

The Next Chapter, an "Americana" band who just happens to be a family, makes that kind of music. With an assemblage of instruments ranging from familiar (banjo and guitar) to exotic (mandolin and hammered dulcimer), they make a glad noise that reaches in and grabs your heart and soul. At breakneck speed, mind you.

Imagine the driving clack of Irish step dancing combined with whirligig finger-picking, and you get an idea of this band's approach to music. It's tonal sparkle that flirts with frenzy. But not to worry: Just when your aural circuits seem ready to blow, they toss you a breather in the form of a mountain ballad or two. Then, once again, it's off to the races.

The members of the band - Jeanne and Shane Page and their children, Adam and Laurel - are warm and witty. They are also, it seems, endlessly talented."

--Janice Myers, Mirage Magazine

"Feeling momentarily tired? Try this alternative: Give a listen to 'The Way or the Road.' On the CD, The Next Chapter serves a healthy shot of musical energy. And it's also a rich mix of tunes from several musical traditons--Celtic, old time, and bluegrass (that) race along a track faster than a bullet train. The engineers who run this train are members of the same family..."

No matter if I'm in the car or at home this is the perfect CD to either start the day on a positive note or relax after a stressful day. The music has the ability to lift me up and carry me away from the here and now. There is something for everyone in the family, high energy and traditional ballad. My kids love to put it on and dance around the kitchen, you will too.
