Album Notes

Nicholas Alan is what could be called a “born songwriter,” scribbling lyrics to head melodies in elementary school. At home he could often be found watching the sessions in his father’s home studio. His love of music would take a path of standards and classical to The Beatles, Beach Boys, and various popular artists in the ’90s and early 21st century.

Nicholas, with a minimal amount of recording experience from past bands, recorded his first album by running a portable digital studio from house to house, with a mic and a chord, getting his friends and member’s of his dad’s band to play on the album. With all the tracks ready, the album was brought to and mixed by Joel Morris, the drummer on the album. And so A World Like Ours was born.

The album would go on to attain a special place in the hearts of many. “Why Did I Wait,” track 2 of A World Like Ours received placements in “Smallville” on The CW and “Side Order of Life” on Lifetime TV.

As Nicholas played the songs of his 1st album inside of venues and cafes around Atlanta, GA, ideas and scribbles slowly grew inside of notebooks into what would later be called Busker. Nicholas sought out the help of Clay Cook to record this new batch of songs. Nicholas knew of Clay from Clay’s co-writes with John Mayer on “Room for Squares.” Nicholas heard some of the production Clay had done for some Atlanta artists and trusted him as a producer for his new material. The two recorded the Busker EP in early 2007 in Clay’s Atlanta studio “The Small Room.” Busker resulted as an organic blend of folk, pop, and indie rock with thought-provoking lyrics such as “Love to live though tear apart this life to find the prize that lives inside it” from “Cigarettes In Snowmen.”

Currently living in South Korea, Nicholas continues to write and release new music. His songs play regularly on several internet radio stations and have been used in addition to the shows mentioned earlier on MTV, Animal Planet, The History Channel, and PBS.

Quite Good

MIX of slow classic music(string section), with jazz pop. Great sound and mix of instrumentation. A departure from his first cd, slower pace, introduction of string section plus his usual guitar and banjitar. Other jazz musicians fill at drums and bass and Clay Cook plays an assorted list of complementary instruments making this cd a total musical sensation.
