Album Notes

Wizard Planet is the debut solo album from Boston rock musician Nicholas Burgess, featuring 12 tracks of crunchy guitar and synth-based rock. From the driving, Savage Dragon-derived opener "A Savage Drag" to the sad and spooky closer "I Can't Pull You Off your Sword," Wizard Planet contains a range of carefully selected sounds. The ZZ Top / Gary Glitter brain transplant of "Hey Okay Hey Yeah Yeah" conjures images of two dudes doing burnouts in two Trans Ams, and the compact Kinks-eating-Weezer epic "Minnesota Ice Man" is a love-affirming, ghost-affirming mini-opera. On the gnarly side of the album, "Now I'm In Beast Mode" is a Ween-inspired, robotic sludge-fest. Elsewhere, "She's A Werewolf" is a glowing pop-rock spectre giving a bear hug to Marc Bolan on Halloween.

Wizard Planet features guest appearances from numerous Boston musicians, including Tristan Da Cunha's Brian Church & Ernie Kim, and Ho-Ag's Ryan Brown.
