ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Nick Caceres is a young singer-songwriter, with a voice directly inspired by hours of deep thought and imaginative contemplation. Like the train rolling over the hills on the cover of his debut EP “Hours of Life”, Nick’s music comes from a place far off and long lost, existing somewhere deep inside us all in an archetypal fashion. By bringing forth such a style of music in this manner, his songs serve as a counterpoint to the high-speed, high-tech, and often highly stressful world we’re living in today-

“Just when I think all the great music and lyrics have manifested themselves and the end of the world is near, Nick appears.....Beautiful Music! Beautiful!" -Gerard (KBCrecords.com)

Nick has been actively writing and performing music over the past few years in his hometown of Portland Oregon, drawing influence from the art and music scene there, while developing a sound (for the most part coincidentally) that follows in the paths of The Shins, The Decemberists, and Elliot Smith –Portland's heroes.

Over the summer (06') after graduating from high-school, he recorded the EP “Hours of Life” at Klickitat Band Camp recording studios (www.KBCrecords.com). Working along side the musical master-mind Shay Scott while collaborating with the local band D&K(myspace.com/dannyandkelly), “Hours Of Life” came to be, successfully capturing and displaying the original and
unique qualities of Nick’s music, while at the same time offering a glimpse into the rising wave of sound coming from the remarkable minds of today’s Portland youth.

*A couple of favorites are- “Swollen River Smiles” and “Kukulcan”

Great Album!
Captivating and unique, Nick’s music provides a glimpse into the deep and thoughtful soul of a young man in his late teens, but wise beyond his years. With lyrics that are as touching as they are profound, this debut album is an amazing poetic and melodic achievement that I hope will be experienced by many.

A magical journey
Never has a CD had such an emotional impact on me. Hours of life will make you cry while you're smiling. Nicks music will shake.......and bake you till you're a nice crispy golden brown Hehe. Just buy it, it's awesome

Innovative in world lacking innovation
Hours of life is a record full of melodic vocal harmonies, catchy chord progressions, and visual poetics that are unmatched by any artist today. Simply listening to the words is enough to take any listener to a compelling world Nick describes so clearly and intelligently. Combining all of the talents of a singer-songwriter, Nick Caceres has surely made a great album. Thank you Nick.

CD kicks ass
The CD is progressive and powerful. It speaks for the conscientious youth in today’s society. Nick Caceres poetically sings of the past, the present, and the future. Political and emotional, his music covers all the bases.

One of my favorite songs is entitled Kukakhan ( exceause the misspelling), co-written by Nick Caceres and Katherine Stanton (another extremely talented new artist) about the ending of the Mayan calendar and what that means for our society.

Amazing Album!
I loved this CD. Nick's music speaks for his generation ~ I hope many will hear it. His beautiful voice is showcased in Hours of Life, his poetic lyrics shine in every song, his message is unmistakable in Kukulcan. An album with heart, a fresh pure voice, a young man brimming with talent. Well worth purchasing. I highly recommend it!
