Chicago native Nicole Garza, who now resides in Schererville, IN, started singing music at the age of 4. Her success during school earned her a scholarship from Columbia College, where she pursues studies in Vocal Performance & Music Business. In addition, she won 4 Titles from the National Dance Assoc.
Nicole made it to the 3rd round of American Idol, and also made the reinvented Star Search in April of 03--unfortunately, it got cancelled.
In Mar 03 things started to look up for Nicole. Her video performance appeared on the Wayne Brady Show for making the top 10 finalists in the Hard Rock the House Talent Search. In May 03 she appeared on MTV’s Duets as a contestant for the Vanessa Carlton episode.
04 was good to Nicole. She performed in Feb at the MGM Grand. LIVE on FOX News ran a feature on Nicole, covering her status as one of 5 finalists for Chicago Idol. On a separate Fox story, she was featured along with Kanye West, WGCI and ICEE Records, on "Making it Big in Chicago" on FOX News. She appeared at a Cancer benefit dance-a-thon at the Univ. of Illinois-Champaign. Nicole penned 2 songs with the highly successful L.A.-based team Harry Maslin and Michele Maslin-Vice.
In 2005, Nicole released her debut album entitled Nicki G Versatility, available at cdbaby.com, napster.com, musicmatch.com, rhapsody.com, etc., which has topped the Broadjam charts and contests everywhere. Feb 05 Nicole was appointed Grand Prize winner for her hit Caught You Lookin’, in the Madison Songwriter’s Group annual contest. She also won the pop/rock genre and placed 4th in Hip-Hop/R&B. In April, 2005 Nicole was the featured artist for Columbia College’s Open House held in the Auditorium Theatre. Nicole was nominated one of the 5 finalists in the Yamaha Song Contest. July 1, 05 Nicole was deemed runner-up in Region Idol consisting of Chicagoland contestants, and was interviewed on local stations in the area.
2005 Nicole played all over the Midwest with Georgia Street Band and the TellStars. She was featured at the Chicago Daley Plaza, Petrillo Band Shell where countless stars have performed, the Apollo Theatre, and again, on FOX News. Nicole performed at the Athenaeum Theatre, Chicago with 3 Chicago dance companies. Nicole was asked to perform again at the Auditorium Theatre as the featured artist in Columbia College's Open House representing the Music Department. Nicole was backed by a full band, video, 70+ person chorus, and the Cerqua-Rivera Dance Company. Also, she performed in the Region Rumble at the Star Plaza Theatre! To wrap up the year, NICKI G VERSATILITY was deemed Top 10 Releases of Chicagoland in 2005!!!!
2006--Nicole lands the Walter E. Smithe Commercials!! One of Nicki G’s biggest honors of Summer 2006 was singing God Bless America and the National Anthem for September 17th’s Chicago CUBS game. Only 35 Americans get the honor to sing at a CUBS game each season, and Nicki was one of those lucky Americans. She spent this entire year touring with Chicago's Finest Soul Band, World Class Noise. She also landed several radio interviews.
2007--Nicole moves toward completing her sophomore album, Nicole Garza Reinvented. She also joined ship with the band The Manhattan Project--a chicago funk and soul band. She was asked again to appear on FOX News for a segment entitled, The Science of SInging. She also is performing on the cruise ship "Spirit of Chicago" which is docked at Navy Pier!
