Album Notes

Goldmine Magazine-"Riff's music is characterized by loads of fuzz guitar, metaphysical and otherwise transcendental
lyrics, droning harmonics, reverb-saturated vocals, bits of raga-rock and plenty of other psychedelic effects and gestures."

Organ Magazine-"Psychedelia for those who like the sounds but don't want to wallow in nostalgia."

NICK RIFF spent the last decade of the 20th century releasing two full length cd's, 'Freak Element', and
"Cloak of Immortality', on the U.K. psychedelic label Delerium Records. Meanwhile, back in the states,
garage/punk label Sonic Swirl put out two 7" singles. Numerous compilation tracks appeared world-wide
and Nick was included in the comprehensive 'SpaceBox' release on Cleopatra Records.

'MAGICK MUSEUM' is a collection of mostly now out of print, or limited edition music for those who may have missed it the first time, released on Nicks new indie label Riffdisc.
It serves as the perfect introduction to Nick Riffs' special style of hybrid rock and is the first in a series of releases that will include a new solo release in the near future.

Nick Riff - 'Magick Museum' (Riff Disc)
author: Mike Reed
Eleven track compilation CD to (more or less) re-introduce one to Riff's music. Here, you get four cuts off his 'Freak Element' effort, five tunes from that CD's follow-up 'Cloak Of Immortality' + two rarities - his 7" single, the trippingly awesome "Mystified" and "Limited Light". Some pure all American psychedelic magic to be thoroughly taken in. Simply love Nick Riff's use of fuzz guitar, well thought out lyrics and a '60's vibe. An absolute should-have.

Imaginative !
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com
Riff crafts the majority of sounds on Magick Museum an eleven track album that includes some limited edition material. Nick's music is a magical blend of alternative, psychedelic, punk and rock. Nick's production is pretty straight forward but does incorporate some effects including a fuzz guitar. A number of his songs have a retro feel with funky, classic rock textures and tones. The CD opens with the energetic "Freak Element", which combines a driving punk rhythm and guitar parts with a vocal style that would work well on a 60's, pop record. It is an interesting mix of styles, allowing room for a demented jam midway through the song. "Creature Feature" is another creative combination of elements featuring an up-tempo beat and animated instrumentation. Magick Museum is an imaginative CD reflecting the past and present of rocker Nick Riff!
