notes

Nick Thompson is a solo acoustic guitar player in New York. Some songs sound like lullabys. Some sound like tornadoes. Some are plaintive, and a few are jubillant.

There's a fair amount of slapping the guitar, and a decent amount of plucking too. Many people say he sounds like Michael Hedges and Leo Kottke. But there are also strong hints of jazz and classical influences.

Three of the songs are spellbinding duets with Thompson's longtime friend, the trumpet player Taylor Ho Bynum from the Fully Celebrated Orchestra.

This album is beautiful and sets a wonderful mood. I've recommended it to all of my friends and will be buying more to give as gifts. I found this artist by chance and am really glad that I stumbled onto his music. I highly recommend it.
