One day Nicola stumbled across a book of poems that totally captivated her. It was The Gift; Poem by Hafiz, the great Sufi Master, translations by Daniel Ladinsky. Hafiz is a 14th century Sufi Poem (same lineage as mystic poet Rumi). She started writing songs from these poems. Finally, after four years of writing, she contacted Daniel Ladinsky, the translator, and got his permission to publish. He gave his permission, and also gave his blessings on the work:
