Album Notes

Début CD from South African singer/songwriter/acoustic guitarist. Music from this CD has been featured on NBC's "Passions" and heard in several independent movies. The songs were all written by Nicolette Aubourg and the subject matter is diverse: the title track is named after a street in Laurel Canyon; track two is inspired in part by Kahlil Gibran's book "The Prophet"; track seven, "Lay down your arms" is a plea for peace and reached number 110 on Neil Young's website (http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/lwwsongspage.html). The CD cover and liner notes feature paintings by the artist.

Vocals are angelic, and vary from stark to layered, in contrast to the strong guitar style. Instrumentation includes cello, violin, piano, B3, electric guitar, drums, bass and percussion from accomplished musicians Adam Chester, Charlie Bisharat, Frank Simes, Jorgen Carlsson, and Stefanie Fife. The CD was produced by Steve Holroyd, Bob Sheehan and Nicolette Aubourg.

Nicolette Aubourg was born and educated in South Africa where she studied classical guitar, piano, vocal performance and music theory, and acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English.

REVIEWS

It is about the songs. They are so right on.

Lovely music, lovely artist, lovely album: My trainer gave me this album as a birthday gift earlier this year, and I keep telling her how wonderful it is. Thank you, thank you, thank you. She (my trainer) said that Nicolette Aubourg has a hauntingly beautiful voice, and I agree, but to me it is about the songs. They are so right on. I get them. This is the album that was written for me. I love it and highly recommend it to everyone.
