celebration of paradox
author: Ruzl
Gritty. Soulful. Yearning. A refreshing celebration of paradox in a too often either/or binary world. Nic Paton’s certainly swimming upstream here - expressing both the urge to believe and the need to jam it - and sounds like a man comfortable in his skin yet intent on exploring the cracks and edges. Each listen reveals hidden depths and textures and the overall impression is of an artist staying true to his vision. Merging blips and loops with acoustic instruments to form a rich soundspace for his songs, the result is a debut that leaves me curious as to where he heads next. Favourite tracks include the opener Bide my Time, Count and Only There When You’re Gone. The lyrics to Never Enough give me chills. In short a great antidote to the digital malaise that rewards the attentive listener.

a meal to be savoured - this is no McDonalds
author: Alex Masters, London
A rich smooth sound, with hints of Talk Talk. Shades of a Midnight Oil atmosphere but enriched with a variation of rhythm. The odd hint of salsa and a township riff garnish, this is a meal to be savoured, a full 3 courses - this is no McDonalds.
