Vanderlust, the Yiddish equivalent to the familiar word meaning "a lust for travel and new experiences" is the perfect title for this new recording by Nikitov, the band that performs Yiddish songs on both sides of the Atlantic. Travel from shtetl to shtetl...Nikitov ventures into ethereal vocal/guitar duets and wild romps on a horse buggy ride over the dirt roads of Eastern Europe. Fronted by Yiddish song maven Niki Jacobs, this new recording captures the sonic depth and unpredictability of the live shows and their deep sense for improvisation and groove. "This fiery and passionate band has made one of the best Klezmer albums of the year." -- Singout! Magazine "Keep an ear out for this group. They capture the sound and spirit of this ancient music very nicely." -- Dirty Linen Niki Jacobs - voice Jelle van Tongeren - violin Adam Good - acoustic guitar Jason Sypher - upright bass

Nice music, good musical skills, just old fashioned-like jiddish music, even though some numbers were recently written by members of Nikitov. I've only listened to it twice (in the car!), but it already sounds familiar. I'm curious about other cd's from Nikitov. Read more...
