"Not much makes music writing more rewarding than unwrapping a CD by an artist previously unknown to you, popping it into the CD player, and finding music that is more than just good, but actually enriches your life. Nikki Schultz's debut CD Lost and Found {and Lost Again}
contains such music, and soon the disc was riding around in my car with me so I could enjoy its moody, jazzy pop. I was moved by her soulful, distinctive and strong voice, and by songwriting not afraid to touch on emotional issues both intimate and universal."
-David De Young, HowWasTheShow.com
With the rumbling of construction and the click-clacking of heels on pavement above, Nikki Schultz is in her basement studio in Cedar-Riverside quietly writing music that swells with an emotional intensity and intellectual depth uncommon for a self-taught singer/songwriter three years in the making.
Combining elements of folk rock, jazz and soul, Nikki contributes her authentically smart songwriting style to the Twin Cities music scene with her 2008 debut CD Lost and Found {and lost again}. Her stories illustrate delicate losses and personal victories, addressing the heavier issues of gentrification, death and unrequited love while incorporating more buoyant references to Hanna Barbera cartoons and the maker of that righteous triangle formula we all learned in high school.
Nikki currently works as a vocalist for Americana/soul songstress Chastity Brown and fronts a rock project called The Discord Syndicate. The Discord Syndicate's debut EP is scheduled for release Spring 2011.
