Nile’s Project
Inspired by the faith-filled life of Nile Calvin Moss.
A group of Nile’s Friends (Entertainers, Musicians & Artists) came together, all in one accord, to eliminate the spread of MRSA.
Inspired by a practice loop of Nile playing a jazz riff with his music teacher and his father, these Friends of Nile came together to create 8 versions of Nile’s Smile, reaching into their musical passions including everything from Jazz to Rock & Roll. Words came to join music soon after as artists, moved by their compassion & feeling for Nile, wrote down the words that described him best: Love, Proud, Faith, Peace, Gratitude, Perfection, Memories – which then became the basis of the title tracks.
Background:
On Easter weekend 2006, Nile, 15 ½ years old, was one of the 100,000 people trhat succumbed to a deadly bacterium named MRSA, (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococus aureus) aka: Staph Infection Bacteria, Hospital Disease, the Superbug or Flesh Easting Bacteria, to name a few). Over 100,000 lives (that’s more than the number of lives lost to cancer, AIDS, and heart disease combined) are lost each and every year and now it’s reaching epidemic proportions. MRSA will also cause the loss of thousands of limbs and the devastation of an untold number of lives. Each year over 2 million people are diagnosed with the bacteria, and that number is increasing at an alarming rate, yet hospitals remain silent.
