People, Places and Sings

by Nina Jo Smith

This is my first studio album inspired by noticing that my songs are like postcards depicting places I've been and people I've met. It was recorded in my hometown of Ojai, California with producer/guitarist Martin Young. Enjoy the trip!

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Nina Jo Smith is a natural-born indie singer-songwriter/guitarist (born on the 4th of July). Her songs paint colorful postcards that introduce you to people and places you’ll want to visit many times.

Martin Young (producer, guitars, bass, Hammond B3, percussion, keyboards) has worked throughout the U.S. in major markets. He backed country singer Clint Black (guitar, 16 years). He has also performed with Martina McBride, Don Henley and others. He owns and operates Music City Demos.

Alan Thornhill (vocals, acoustic guitar) is an award-winning guitarist (The Telluride Fingerstyle Guitar Championship) who has backed Hoyt Axton, Kate Wolf and Jim Messina. He is an oft-covered performing songwriter with a unique and soulful voice. Alan has three releases on Matilija Music.

Jimmy Calire on keyboards, piano and Hammond B3; Dennis Shives on harmonica; Dave Francis on bass and Dennis Holt on drums complete the sound.

“Nina Jo brings back everything I loved about the 1960s, the dream of peace, the power of love….” - Michael Buffalo Smith, http://universalmusictribe.com/

A real treat!
Nina Joe's music makes me want to sit on my couch in the sun and just enjoy being. Her songs are sometimes serious in theme but maintain a sense of playfulness about them that is refreshing. Her voice sounds very natural and flows with ease. My personal favorite is Buddha at the Backdoor.

Calling all Joni Mitchell Fans!
Definitely if you love Joni Mitchell, you'll love Nina Jo Smith! Though, she is in no means is a "copy cat"...she has her own voice and soul...you're in for a real treat with 'Brokedown Ford' a surprising rockin' chant and 'Make Love Not War' a fun-loving reggae tune. Definitely recommend this to all music-lovers!
