Album Notes

Origins is the birth of the musical side of the multi-media artist NIO (which stands for Nothing is Original, and yes, it predates "The Matrix"). NIO began doing art and multimedia installations in 1996 and has been primarily known for doing visuals and in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico. While travel and video brought so much inspiration to NIO, he found that really it was the music that was driving the video and most importantly the dance floor. In his mid-twenties, NIO had decided to hold off on music until he turned forty. At his fortieth birthday party in Venice Beach, California he did a simultaneous DJ/VJ set in public for the first time and enrolled in Los Angeles's Sound and Audio Engineering (SAE) Institute program for Electronic Music Producer. As anyone knows, a class does not a musician make. Two years of 24/7 attention to music including quitting his job at a gallery on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and moving his studio to the mountains of Costa Rica demonstrated the dedication to music required to complete this first album.
