Album Notes

Nick Evans Mowery is a singer/songwriter that has released numerous albums covering several different styles of music. He owns and manages Tangent Boy Productions in Las Vegas, NV which primarily deals with the production and sale of NEM music. NEM’s latest release “Kept” is a long awaited ROCK album which features Billy Bilger on drums.

Inspired by artists such as Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, NEM began playing guitar at the age of 12. Like many guitarists of his generation, he was self taught except for a year of private piano lessons. After high school, NEM attended the Berklee College of Music to further his knowledge of music theory. After countless years of performing in rock, blues, country and funk bands, he realized his passion was songwriting and recording. In 1997, he began piecing together a project studio to record his demos. Over the past 12 yrs, the studio has grown almost as fast as his song catalogue.

Billy Bilger’s contribution to this recording is nothing less than Genius. His ability to grind out the perfect groove for each separate track puts him in a class all his own. His technical ability mixed with his love of music shines throughout this compilation.

Take a listen and you will notice the influences mentioned above in NEM’s guitar playing. The solos for Track #1-"Traded For The Fire" and Track #5 "Found" are enough to make even EVH himself smile. Track #2 "Desert Sand" is a tribute to fallen LVMPD Officer Kevin Daily. Although the lyrics are a bit morbid, the truth prevails in a swarm of Hendrix-style guitar wizardry. Track #3 "Kept" is an autobiographical look at NEM’s view towards today’s lagging music industry and his passion to keep writing. This track definitely exemplifies NEM’s style. One surprise would be Track #9 "Mite B Rite." Crank this song up and you will be instantly transported back to 1979 at CBGB’s.
