Album Notes

NNMaddox spent much of the last two years producing 14Mercy artists like Stagger Lee, Todd Zombie, Inca Jones and Reverend Jenkins. With Ice Cold Sunshine, Maddox returns with his strongest solo effort to date, a Glam Rock opus that conjures up images of Marc Bolan, Gary Glitter, Ziggy Stardust, and Slade.

Through squealing guitar riffs, sing-a-long choruses and funky basslines, Ice Cold Sunshine grabs the listener's attention and keeps it focused on a simpler time of Blood and Gary Glitter.

The explosive opener, "Ione Skye" paves the way for the theme of the album (and perhaps Maddox's best song), "Cherry Vanilla Man." This is an anthem for guys who are wearing more makeup than their love interests, and are feeling a bit insecure about it. Less aggressive tracks like "Break Your Guitar' and "The Protagonist" make songs like "Gabriela," "Stone Cold Trash," and "Maybe Just Halloween" that much more powerful.

More high points include Maddox's tribute to America's favorite sodapop, "Coca-Cola," and the T. Rex/Ziggy Stardust inspired "Can You Dig It?" and "1973." You'll be singing along, putting on lipstick and leather pants and speaking to me in a language obscene.

So if you really want to have a good time, if you're looking to let off some steam. I'm sending you an invitation to start a constellation with me.
